Product Profile:
 |
General Description:
An oxidative fast drying red primer used for quick recoating or production line
oriented areas.
|
 |
Common Usage:
Typical uses include structural steel, storage tanks, steel fences, machinery
and equipment, bridges and towers. This coating can also be used as a
barrier coat over alkyds to permit vinyls, epoxies or other coatings containing
strong solvents to be applied.
|
 |
Color: Reddish-Brown |
 |
Finish: Flat |
Coating Systems:
 |
Finish Coats:
Typical topcoats include alkyds, lacquer, urethanes, or epoxies. Each
service environment may require a specific coating system or combination of
Anchor products. Consult your Anchor representative for specific job
recommendations.
|
Surface Preparation:
 |
For maximum performance, the recommended substrate should be blasted in
accordance with SSPC-SP7. If blast cleaning is not feasible, the substrate
should be degreased in accordance with SSPC-SP1. All burrs should be
removed and sharp edges or rough weld seams should be ground down. Full
use should then be made of mechanical power tools, in conjunction with wire
brushing and chipping to remove all loose rust and mill scale to a standard of
cleanliness conforming to SP-2 or SP-3.

Application Considerations:
The recommended method of application is by airless spray. To avoid
dusting, apply in wet coats. On a derusted surface, the application of a dry
film thickness of at least 2 mils is recommended. With any oxidative coating,
faster dry time may be obtained with increased air movement and/or higher
substrate or material temperature.
