Product Profile:
 |
General Description:
AncoFlex is a 100% Waterborne Acrylic High Build Elastomeric Exterior Wall Coating designed for superior "snap back" elasticity and excellent elongation to accommodate the movement of "live" hairline cracks without rupturing or wrinkling. AncoFlex exhibits excellent resistance to dirt pick-up, U.V. light, mildew and moisture via wind driven rain. |
 |
Common Usage:
This product is formulated for vertical, not horizontal, above grade masonry such as concrete block, exterior insulated wall systems and stucco. |

Primer Coats:
All previously uncoated surfaces or those requiring the removal of excessive chalk should be sealed with Anchor #1122 Waterborne Acrylic Masonry Sealer. Consult your Anchor representative for specific job recommendations. |
Surface Preparation:
 |
New masonry must be cured 28 days prior to application and tested for a neutral pH of 7-9 with litmus paper or a pH pencil prior to application. If pH exceeds this range, a longer cure time or an application of 5% solution of muriatic acid will be required. If acid wash is necessary, triple rinse the surface of acid residue and re-test for neutral pH. The surface must be dry and free of any contaminants that would hinder the performance of the coating. This would include dirt, oils, mildew, form release and curing agents, excessive efflorescence or chalk and any loose or failing coatings. This must be removed by scraping, wirebrushing, power washing or other means. Low density concrete block should be filled and a coat of masonry sealer applied prior to application of AncoFlex. Hairline cracks do not require special treatment prior to application. Cracks larger than 1/16" should be cleaned of contaminants, widened to a minimum of of 1/4" and filled with an appropriate flexible masonry patching material so that a uniform appearance is attained. Allow patch to cure before proceeding. |

Application Considerations:
Roller or Airless spray preferred. Strain material before spraying. The first coat applied by spraying should be backrolled to fill pores in the surface and prevent pinholes. Do not exceed maximum spread rate to achieve 8-10 mils dry per coat. Always apply into rather than away from wet edge, overlapping each pass 50%. Avoid touching up or rolling more than ten minutes after applying. Touch up when paint is completely dry. Allow to cure ten days before cleaning newly painted surfaces. |
 |
Touch Up:
Proper touch-up is accomplished by applying a thin coat of this product over a well coated surface using the same method of application as used to apply the finish coat, that is, spray over spray, roller over roller. If the finish coat is sprayed, it is also possible to spray a small amount into an empty container, then touching up with a foam brush. Touch up should be done within 5 degrees of the original temperature. |
