Failures: Voids, Skips, Holidays

 << Back
Description:
Voids appear on painted surfaces.

Cause:
  • Painting was done in a poorly lit area.
  • The brush or roller passed over low spots on the surface area where there might have been contamination.
  • Not enough paint applied to the surface.
Prevention:
  • Always work in a well-lit area.
  • Use the appropriate brush or roller nap thickness for the texture of the surface painted.
  • Clean the surface prior to coating application.
  • Use the proper application technique to assure sufficient paint is applied in a uniform manner.
Cure:
Clean the surface if necessary and then recoat the surface.
