Poor Coverage or Poor Hiding

 << Back
Description:
The subsurface shows through newly painted surface.

Cause:
  • Too much thinner was added to the material.
  • The coating was not mixed or agitated adequately prior to application.
  • The previous surface is darker / brighter than the applied coating.
  • There has not been enough paint applied to the surface.
  • The paint was applied improperly by using the wrong equipment.
Prevention:
  • Use caution if thinning material. Do not over-thin.
  • Mix paint thoroughly to insure all pigments are sufficiently incorporated.
  • Use the appropriate primer or sealer if applying light colors over dark colors.
  • Use the proper application methods.
Cure:
Recoat using a primer or under coater and then add the finish coat.
