Description: There are glossy spots on a surface painted with a flat or low gloss coating.
Cause:
- There was abrasion from cleaning surface, a.k.a. burnishing.
- Certain areas received more primer due to application error.
- There was application over both sealed and unsealed surfaces. For example, the finish coat on a wall may appear to have more gloss over areas where there is overspray from trim enamels or lacquer products.
Prevention:
- Use non-abrasive cleaners when cleaning the surface.
- Always apply a uniform coat of primer over the entire surface.
Cure: Sand the glossy areas and repaint the entire surface.
