Description:
The paint has lost adhesion and is coming off in single or multiple coats.
Cause:
- There is moisture trapped under the paint.
- Painting over a contaminated surface.
- Improper surface preparation.
- There is a lack of adhesion due to painting over a hard shiny surface.
Prevention:
- Eliminate the source of moisture.
- Clean the surface of all contaminants.
- Use the proper surface preparation.
- Use the correct paint for the job, a pure acrylic latex.
Cure:
Strip the surface of all loose or failing paint using a power wash if feasible. Feather sand any rough edges. Repaint with a top quality pure acrylic latex.
